NICHOLAS PURO
Nicholas Puro, JD (Managing Partner) has over 20 years of venture capital and management experience. He has been a Partner of Edelson Technology Partners (ETP), a series of strategic venture capital funds which managed money for ten of the world’s largest multinational corporations (AT&T, Viacom, 3M, Ford Motor, Cincinnati Bell, Colgate-Palmolive, Reed Elsevier, Imation, Asea Brown Boveri and UPS). Two additional prominent limited partners were Harbourvest and Wellcome Trust which entered the partnerships through secondary purchases. Nick has worked closely with the executive management of the corporate limited partners of the preceding funds, often with the CEOs. The previous Funds have invested in over 100 companies in all areas of technology including life sciences, information technology, specialty materials, education, telecommunications and alternative energy. Mr. Puro was CFO and Chief Strategy Officer of Propel Orthodontics which developed and commercialized breakthrough devices for the orthodontic market and within 4 years of product launch engineered the sale of the company to a major dental company for an 8x return to investors. Prior to that he was President and CFO of MultiVir Inc. a biotechnology company developing immno-gene therapies for the treatment of solid tumors. At MultiVir he was successful in managing the team of highly skilled drug development people recruited from major multinational pharmaceutical companies and raising funding for Phase I human clinical trials for four (4) potential drugs and for Phase II human clinical trials for the two (2) drug candidates with the most impressive Phase I results. He was also President of the medical device company, Temptime Corporation. He led its explosive growth averaging 20% per annum and its strategic transformation from a one-product, one-customer company to a multi-product international corporation with a worldwide customer base and operations in the US, Europe, India and Asia. The Company was sold to private equity for a huge multiple of earnings. Mr. Puro was also the President of China Opportunity Acquisition Corp., the SPAC that was successfully merged into a Chinese specialty materials company in 2009. He has been a member of numerous boards of directors and is respected for his knowledge of corporate governance. Prior to entering venture capital, was a leading venture capital attorney performing transactional work for many of the largest and well-respected venture capital funds on the East Coast. He has been a member of numerous boards of directors and is respected for his knowledge of corporate governance. He has a BS in Accounting from Seton Hall University and a JD from Fordham Law School.
